Back in August, and for the majority of my life, I dreamed, of becoming a Pediatrician in a children’s hospital; I wanted to cure my sisters’ disease. In addition to my dreams of entering the medical field, there is nothing I want more than to have a family of my own. Unlike with doctors, nurses are able to develop a close relationship with their patients. This important difference convinced me that nursing was the right career for me. I wanted to help patients the way I have watched the nurses help my loved ones. I have a passion for children and I now dream of graduating from Saginaw Valley State University in December of 2018 with my bachelors degree in nursing. After graduation I plan on working for a few years in order to gain experience, and then returning to school to become a Nurse Practitioner. I love the idea of being able to care for my patients physically and emotionally. I hope that by becoming a Nurse Practitioner I will open up numerous employments opportunities for myself while still being able to connect with my patients. As someone that has sat in the hospital room as the patient my whole life with my sister, I understand the compassion and dedication that is required to provide the best care possible to the patients and their families. As a Nurse Practitioner I would hope to bring the love for helping people back to the forefront of every medical professional’s mind. I dream of helping others overcome some of the most difficult times of their lives. The determination of my family members has taught me the importance of hard work and dedication. Although there are tremendous physical, mental, and emotional demands associated with being a nurse, there is no other profession I would rather dedicate my life to.
